Sarah and Jon's History:

The Story Of Our Engagement
By Sarah
On the night of February 2, 2002 I was up in Seattle, Washington seeing
the sights and doing the normal tourist stuff with my wonderful
boyfriend of 3 years, Jon. We had spent the day shopping downtown,
going to the fish market, and drinking some Starbucks coffee in the
city where it originated (one of my favorite things to do as you all know)!
Well, that evening we got dressed up and headed to the
Space Needle. While enjoying the view from the "O Deck," Jon
dropped to one knee and asked me those few little words I had been dieing
to hear for the past few months! "Sarah I love you so much and I
want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?" As
he said this he opened up a lighted ring box which illuminated the
exact ring I had been dreaming about! Of course I excitedly responded
with a YES and a few tears of joy.
After the proposal we had a limo pick us up and take
us downtown to a wonderful Italian restaurant for dinner. Following
dinner, the limo driver took us for a quick tour of Seattle to see some
beautiful sights! The night was just perfect!

How We Met
In November of 1998 I went to Salem, Oregon with my best friend Heidi
Saunders to visit my good friend (and her sister) Jill Saunders who was
attending Western Baptist College. I had no idea at that point what the
Lord had in store for me! Jill insisted I meet this guy who in her eyes
was "absolutely perfect for me!" I wasn't interested. In my
mind I was just there to have a fun weekend with Jill and Heidi. Well,
we ended up hanging out with this guy and his friends all weekend and
I came to really admire him. I saw in Him, a great Christian guy who had
the qualities that I desired in a boyfriend (and potential husband), but
I had no idea he would actually become mine! I went home thinking, "Wow,
I hope I can find a guy like that someday." Well, after exchanging
e-mail addresses we ended up becoming great long distance friends for
the next two months! While he was on Christmas vacation he came down
to California and stayed with me and my family. (Looking back I can't
believe my parents allowed this!) Well, we hit it off again and decided
by the end of the visit there was something special between us that we
wanted to "help" develop! So for the next year and a half we
"dated" by nightly phone calls and a visit every couple months.
The Lord really worked on our friendship through this time and helped
us bond in ways that most people are never able to experience. After
the year and a half was over and I was done with high school the Lord
opened up doors for me to be able to attend Western Baptist College. It
was a dream come true in more ways than one! :-) For the next two years
Jon and I were able to spend a lot of time getting to know each other
in a different way, which has led us to this point in our lives. As we
look back on it all, we know without a doubt that it was the Lord who
planned it all out and guided us down the right paths because without
Him, there is no way this could have worked out!
